Mr. Kees Van Den Doel: The video below is is the first violin part of the famous Bach air from his Orchestral Suite in D major on Persian ney. Mr. Kees van den Doel tries to fake the missing notes in the bam sections with pitch bending with the lips and connecting it to the zir register. Mr Kees lives in Vancouver, Canada, and performs regularly with players from the local Persian community

Persian Ney: The Persian ney (sometimes spelled as nay, or nai) is a wind instrument from Iran. It consists of a hollow cylinder with finger-holes. Sometimes a brass or plastic mouthpiece is placed at the top to protect the wood from damage, but this plays no role in the sound production. It has a very compelling sound, unlike any other wind instrument.
